Summary
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur shared the spoils in a dramatic 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday. McBriomoh's 73rd-minute strike appeared to have secured all three points for United, only for Solanke to head a stoppage-time equalizer for Tottenham. The visitors finished with 10 men after Bentancur was sent off for retaliation. The result leaves United languishing in 12th place with their worst league start in 40 years, while Tottenham remains bottom of the table without a win.
Key Points
- McBriomoh gave United the lead in the 73rd minute, finishing clinically after aetal cross from the left wing
- Tottenham were reduced to 10 men after Bentancur was sent off for heading Shaw following a clash in midfield
- Solanke equalized in the 92nd minute, heading past Onana from a left-wing cross to snatch a point
- United have earned just 6 points from 6 Premier League games, their worst start since 1986
- Tottenham sit 18th with 3 points from 5 games, still searching for their first league victory
Why It Matters
The draw underscores the alarming decline of two traditional giants who have won a combined 28 English top-flight titles. For United, caretaker manager Carrick faces mounting pressure to arrest a slide that sees them closer to the relegation zone than the top four. Tottenham's defensive crisis—with key center-backs unavailable and the team yet to win—poses serious questions about manager De Zerbi's future at the club.
